Part Time Specialty Doctor in Dermatology
We are looking for a committed team player to join our friendly department on a part-time 7 PA basis to commence as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic physician who has a genuine interest in Dermatology. The Department's main base is at University Hospital Crosshouse Kilmarnock where most services are provided from a purpose-designed Dermatology Centre supplemented by a suite within the Out-patient department. There is a smaller base at University Hospital Ayr. There are 4 adult in-patient beds at University Hospital Crosshouse with access to beds in the Paediatric Unit. A recent redesign of the unit at University Hospital Crosshouse has provided enhanced clinic Day Treatment Unit and in-patient facilities. The unit has busy Day Treatment Units at Crosshouse and Ayr providing dressings TL01 PUVA and Photodynamic therapy. Minor surgery facilities are available in the Dermatology Centre and in the out-patient area. The postholder may be required to undertake duties at other hospitals and clinics in Ayrshire & Arran. There are 5 Consultant Dermatologists. In addition to this post the unit is supported by 1 FY2 doctor 1 ST3/4 doctor 1 full-time LAS (post to be filled) 4 part-time Specialty Doctors 4 GP sessions an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and experienced Nurses. The Dermatology Department enjoys close relationships with Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Monthly clinic-pathological meetings are held maintaining close links between the departments. There is a fortnightly local skin cancer MDT meeting and the unit also participates in the regional skin cancer MDT meetings. The Dermatology Department CME programme is organised on an academic term basis with monthly clinical review meetings for discussion of challenging cases regular clinical governance and audit meetings journal club meetings and external speakers. The duties of the post would include participation at Out-Patient clinics to see new and review patients under the supervision of the Consultant care of In-Patients Day Treatment Unit patients arranging and dealing with results of investigations and liaising with GPs patients nurses and consultants. Review of ward referrals and administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients will also be required. The postholder will provide middle grade support for the FY2 doctors and nursing staff including specialist Dermatology nursing staff running the day treatment services. The postholder will be encouraged to participate in the CME programme of the department and Medical Division and opportunity will be given to train in minor skin surgery. However please note that this post does not have formal educational approval. Terms and Conditions of service are those determined by the New Specialty Doctor Grade (Scotland) 2008. Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council with a current Licence to Practice and have completed at least 4 years post-graduate medical experience of which 2 should be in dermatology or other relevant specialty.
