CONSULTANT PERINATAL PSYCHIATRIST 10PA (full time, part time or job share)

The Hampshire Perinatal Service has twice won UK Mental Health Team of the Year (2004 and 2013) and was assessed as 'Outstanding' on all measures by the CQC in 2015. We are an energetic, creative and happy team, who aim to offer and inspire excellence in community and inpatient perinatal mental health care. The 10 bed Winchester MBU, accredited by CCQI, admits women and babies from across the South and beyond. The community team includes psychologists, nursery nurses, social worker, nurses and psychiatrists and covers a population of about 17,000 births, with 4 main maternity units.

This is a fabulous opportunity to apply for the second of 2 new posts created to replace a post vacated by retirement. The first of the two posts was advertised and filled earlier this year. The post-holder will be responsible for inpatients on the MBU who are not from the community team catchment area (generally 5-6 beds) with some negotiable outreach or community responsibilities depending on number of PAs preferred by the appointee. In addition to this post, medical staffing in the service comprises 2 other consultants (one permanent 8PAs and one long term locum, currently 5PAs), 2 foundation doctors, a senior trainee (currently ST6), and a staff grade post. Dr Gregoire, who is retiring from the clinical consultant role, will continue to provide some service leadership and mentoring of new staff for a limited period.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre and interview which will be held during December (exact dates will be confirmed). Closing date is 30 November 2016.

For more information about the post and a visit to the service, please contact Dr Alain Gregoire, Perinatal Lead Clinician or Jenny Walsh, Perinatal Service manager (( Email address removed ); ( Email address removed )).
