Break into Prison Healthcare!

HMP Foston Hall is a Closed Female prison. Holding 344 prisoners, a mixture of remand, unsentenced, short and long term sentenced young adults and adult prisoners.

Care UK took over the NHS Healthcare Services contract at HMP Foston Hall on 1st April 2016.

Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.

To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Foston Hall, we’re looking for a Pharmacy Technician to support us and the existing team.

About the role

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist with the provision and delivery of an integrated, safe, legal, high quality prison pharmaceutical service within the Care UK cluster of prisons based on National (Divisional) policies supported with local standard operating protocols, taking into consideration, at all times, the need to maintain a high level of security.
The post holder will be required to support the delivery of Pharmacy Services which will be part be of a comprehensive healthcare package, based on the prison service’s needs. The Pharmacy Technician will be an integral member of the Pharmacy Team, who forms part of the wider cluster of Healthcare Services. Care UK policies and procedures and statutory frameworks governing patient care in a prison setting, will be used in order to deliver the highest standard of care to clients in line with National Guidelines.
The post holder may be required to accept certain activities in relation to the day to day operational management of their unit and as such must ensure that they are trained and competent to take on these additional responsibilities. The Pharmacy Technician may be required to take on a role of working across multiple Pharmacy Services if and when required.

About you

The successful candidate will hold NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent qualifications and must have a current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). They will also have relevant post-qualification experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.

Further job information

This is a full-time role, working 375 hours per week. The salary for this role is £20,000 - £22,000 - dependent on experience.
