A new role is being created within the Plastic Surgery & Burns Service at the St Andrews Centre, based at Broomfield Hospital. The role is being introduced help meet the current and future needs of patients referred to the St Andrew’s Centre for specialist plastic surgery.

St Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery & Burns is a long-established and internationally-acclaimed Centre, providing a tertiary specialist burns & plastic surgery service for London and the South East of England. The Service has a highly varied caseload and you will join the team who provide specialist plastic surgical care for adults and children.

Patients are referred to the St Andrews Centre from all parts of the East and North London, the Eastern Region, South East Region and beyond. The Centre has access to three Plastic Surgery Wards, a dedicated Burns ITU with integral theatre, two Burns Wards, an Emergency Assessment Clinic for Trauma, Elective and Emergency Operating Theatres, dedicated Outpatient Department and Minor Ops.

The role of Physicians Associates is being introduced into Plastic Surgery and Burns to complement the existing varied and specialist roles.

We are looking for dynamic individuals with enthusiasm. As a successful candidate, working with the Plastic Surgery Department Team members you will take forward best practice and be an ambassador for the new role.

You will work alongside the Plastic Surgery Department doctors and nurses and other health care professionals and be required to work in different areas of the Plastic Surgery Department, liaising with other professionals and specialities as required.

The Trust has a reputation for providing high quality well-structured care in a friendly and supportive environment. Post holders will be supervised by a designated Consultant with individual mentorship to overview career development. As part of that career development, it is envisaged that from September 2015 the successful candidate will be allocated a placement to attend a course of study at Anglia Ruskin University.

MEHT contracts are subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.

All Registered Nurse/Midwife/Theatre Practitioner or ODP you will be required to take a Drug Calculation Test. (please note 100% pass mark required)

All HCA/HCSW/MCA will be required to take a Literacy and Numeracy test (80% pass required) as part of the pre employment process.
