Break into prison healthcare

An opportunity has arisen for a committed, enthusiastic and reliable Primary Care Team Leader (Registered Nurse, Adult) to support our healthcare team in the development, coordination and provision of the service we deliver at HMP YOI Chelmsford.

HMP YOI Chelmsford is a category B male adult prison and young offenders institution.

Key Responsibilities

To support the Head of Healthcare in the development and delivery of high quality responsive services to service users who require access to health services within HMP YOI Chelmsford ensuring compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements of the contract and Care UK Health as well as good practice as identified by key stakeholder groups

To ensure that services comply with all national and local requirements, including (but not limited to) the NHS Plan, Standards for Better Health, National Service Frameworks, the Local Development Plan and national Prison Health Performance Indicators

To provide support in managerial leadership and direction of the primary care health team to ensure high quality, effective services that are person centred, accessible and locally valued by the prisoners, the prison and Care UK.

Good communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to influence people in a positive way.
Ability to manage, motivate and develop others to achieve Contract objectives.

Ability to manage change in a positive and proactive manner.
Good problem solving skills.


Experience in working in a challenging environment for marginalized individuals
Preparation of reports and presentations to external agencies
Participating in Modernisation and Development of services


Professional qualification RGN (with valid NMC registration)
Evidence of continued professional development

Further Job Information

This is a full time role working 375 hours per week on a rota basis.

The salary range is £30,000 - £32,500 depending on experience, per annum.

Interviews are taking place on Monday 26th September.
