Job Description

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust was formed in 2006 and became integrated with NHS Coventry in April 2011.

The Trust provides a full range of expanding physical, mental health and learning disability services to children, young adults, adults and older adults over many sites across Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.

Services are provided to a population of over one million people living in Coventry and Warwickshire and also a wider geographical area in some of our specialist services, we see on average around 5,000 patients every day.

Primary Mental Health Worker

Warwickshire Primary Mental Health Team for children and young people

Band 6

The post would be suitable for professionals with mental health related training, such as nursing, clinical psychology, occupational therapy, social work etc.

375 hours

Fixed term contract for 12 months

The Warwickshire Primary Mental Health Team provides training, consultation and advice regarding young people’s mental health to professional working with children and young people, enabling them to understand and manage mental health difficulties in the young people they work with. The team also provides assessment and brief individual interventions, co-working with the universal professionals where appropriate.

The service has secured additional funding to provide additional support to the areas of Nuneaton and Bedworth. This additional post will provide mental health assessments, consultation, training and support in the North Warwickshire area, prioritising young people within the Common Assessment Framework or receiving support from Social Care

The PMHT is co-located with the Coventry PMHT and the Specialist CAMHS team and works closely with Reach, the locally commissioned tier 2 mental health service. The team also participates in the single point of entry that sits within CWPT and triages all referrals for tiers 1-3.

The PMHT is managed within the Child and Family Services within the Trust and benefits from close working with other specialist services for children with learning disability and/or neurodevelopmental needs.

The post holder must have experience of delivering training, providing mental health assessments and intervention to children and young people. Experience of supervising clinical staff and providing consultation to other professionals is required. Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies, such as education and social care is essential.
