Warwick Medical School is committed to the delivery of high quality medical education. To ensure education always reflects current practice and can expose students to the most recent developments within any given field much of our delivery is led by academics with a strong clinical or research focus. The purpose of this job is to provide strong pedagogic input to the Warwick MBChB to ensure that content, delivery and student support mechanisms are current and fit for purpose.
The post holder will undertake teaching in order to support the work of the department and develop and enhance its reputation, both internally and nationally, outside the University. They will design, develop and deliver a range of programmes of study, assessment or support and contribute to the development of teaching and learning strategies relating to the MBChB.
The post holder is expected to be an experienced clinician educator and will be a member of the senior team of the MBChB. They will undertake a significant leadership role within the MBChB. In the first instance, this will include the role of Academic Lead for Phase 2 of the MBChB.
The post holder may also contribute to the teaching and assessment of the Masters in Medical Education Programme.
The successful candidate will hold an honorary NHS contract at an NHS Local Education Provider (LEP) affiliated to the School. For those already holding a local post this will require moving to a University Contract and job plan changes to allow them to undertake 05 FTE academic responsibilities. For those new to the area, opportunities exist within our LEPs for Consultants in Acute Medicine, Gerontology, Histopathology, Radiology (University Hospital Coventry), Multiple secondary care specialties in addition to General Practice and Liaison Psychiatry (South Warwickshire Foundation Trust). Other Psychiatry opportunities may be also be available (Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust).
