Job Description

Project Lead for East Cheshire Hospice Community Buddies (supporting those with dementia and their carers).

20 Hours per week (flexible)

Salary range: £28,000 pro rata

12 month Fixed Term Contract

East Cheshire Hospice, Macclesfield provides care and support for people with life limiting illness and those close to them.

As project lead you will be responsible for developing and establishing a community befriending scheme in partnership with other local charities. This scheme will provide dementia ‘buddy’ volunteers who will give friendship and encouragement to clients with dementia and their carers.

The role entails planning, developing, implementing and evaluating progress to a point where it can be integrated into the existing East Cheshire Hospice infrastructure.

Competence in service development together with the ability to use your own initiative are pre-requisite for the role, as is the ability to demonstrate effective communication skills at all levels. A knowledge and understanding of dementia or those with caring responsibilities and working with/managing volunteers is essential. Good ICT skills and the ability to work well autonomously and as part of a wider team will ensure success in this role. You will be adaptable and able to work across organisations and demonstrate good liaisons with internal and external parties.
