The Harley Street Clinic is one of the most prestigious and respected private hospitals in London, specialising in complex, cancer, cardiac and neuroscience, care for both adults and children. With the most advanced medical equipment and the largest private paediatric ITU in the country, it's no surprise we attract some of the finest specialist consultants from many of London's major teaching hospitals.

The department currently has 4 theatres and a supporting recovery room which has capacity for 4 patients. The recovery room caters for all post op patients including Cath Lab and CT/MRI patients who have had sedation or general anaesthesia.

Job Description

We have an exciting and new opportunity for a Quality and Clinical Practice facilitator - Theatres to join our Quality and Risk Team.

This position will work in partnership with the Quality, operational efficiency, Clinical Governance, learning and development and other assigned teams to ensure that the organisation meets or exceeds patient safety and quality improvement goals.

The Post holder will provide a professional service and positive team leadership promoting and safeguarding the well being and interests of all patients and operating theatre personnel.

A considerable element of the role is to manage the educational strategy across surgical services. This will involve directly teaching or working alongside staff to ensure we learn from our incidents and develop a culture that is focused on continuous improvement.

Salary Range is £40,000 - £45,419 per annum depending on experience

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To contribute to the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care and be accountable for maintaining standards.
  • To uphold quality initiatives that improves 'customer care' and enhances the interface between staff, patients and visitors within the peri-Operative Environment.
  • To promote practice development within all clinical units, ensuring that the environment supports the concept of lifelong learning
  • Reporting findings from incidents to the teams and developing improvement processes with the teams and clinical practice facilitators.
  • To work with teams, interact/collaborate with individuals in all areas in surgical services department, disciplines to resolve issues concerning patient quality issues.
  • Ensure a systemised approach for incident investigation and management including appropriate use of root cause analysis and appropriate formalised reports

Skills & Experience

  • Registered Theatre practitioner with extensive practical experience
  • Professional Degree or equivalent and a willingness and / or intention to study to Masters Level
  • A Risk and Quality Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Teaching Qualification - minimum ENB 997/998
  • Root cause analysis training - desirable
  • Broad experience in a quality and / or risk role is essential
  • Teaching experience is essential

About The Individual

The successful candidate will have well developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to motivate and enthuse individuals/teams. They will have excellent organisation skills and be able to priorities and delegate workload effectively, whilst demonstrating a strong sense of personal and team accountability. They must have the confidence to deal with and resolve any situations that arise and will show that they can work under pressure and manage conflict. Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills are a must.
