Band 5 PACU (Recovery) Reigstered Nurses / ODPs
The PACU/Recovery within Broomfield Hospital Theatres is developing a new extended recovery service providing 1:1 high dependency care and continuous monitoring for patients who have undergone major elective surgery.
Our recovery unit provides care for patients following surgery from 23 theatres with surgical specialties upper and lower GI, vascular, urology, gynaecology, breast, obstetrics, maxillary facial, ENT, trauma, orthopaedics, robotic surgery, head and neck surgery and Burns and Plastics for which we are a world renowned centre of excellence.
We pride ourselves on being a warm and welcoming team and work within the ethos that “the patient is the most important person in the room”. We value our staff as well as our patients and as a reflection of this, many of our theatre staff have been awarded our internal award – OSCAR, for great practice and mentorship and support of colleagues.
We are looking to recruit band 5 RNs/ ODPs who want an exciting role within this progressive unit. The ideal candidate will have recovery experience, however training can be offered to exceptional practitioners. Demonstration of team working, team values and exceptional patient care are important as this will be large part of your role (please see the attached JD for a full person spec).
We are proud to be the only NHS theatre in the country to be awarded year on year with ISO accreditation – Quality and many of our staff have been developed into more Senior Roles with in the team and this is something that we actively encourage.
We will aid in the development of your career to enable this we have a dedicated full time Training and Education Lead and we work closely with Anglia Ruskin University with courses such as Perioperative Advances in safe and Effective Patient Care and Mentorship Preparation, and the NHS Leadership Academy for leadership courses at different levels. The Trust runs many other In-House courses such as MIPS updates, Core Skills Training, Risk Management and Resuscitation courses all of which are available to develop your career and enhance skills and knowledge.
How we support staff engagement and development
Shift patterns will include day duties, night duties, twilight / on-calls, weekends and bank holidays. You may be required to work at our BCH site on occasions.

All Registered Nurse/Midwife/Theatre Practitioner or ODP you will be required to take a Drug Calculation Test. (please note 100% pass mark required)
All HCA/HCSW/MCA will be required to take a Literacy and Numeracy test (80% pass required) as part of the pre employment process.
