Registered Mental Health Nurse

Job Description

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust specialises in working with people who are experiencing mental health difficulties and those with learning disabilities. As a Trust we make a positive difference to thousands of people’s lives across Sussex, Kent and Hampshire, providing support so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives.

We believe that staff who feel valued by the Trust and are truly engaged in the organisation deliver better outcomes for our patients and we are always looking for people with the right core values to join our team. The Trust is clinician-led, and provides the highest possible level of clinical expertise throughout its services.

Our vision is to provide outstanding care and treatment you can be confident in. To achieve the highest standards we have already embarked on a programme to transform the culture of the Trust to one of continuous improvement, delivered through participation of all staff and with service users, carers and families at the heart of our efforts.

We are aware of the local and national competition to recruit nurses, so why choose us? We have introduced a Hard to Recruit Premium for our Band 5 and Band 6 nurses; this supplement offers a 5% of salary allowance, at a minimum of £951 and a maximum of £1,649. As a nurse in our service you will work as an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team, where you will receive on-going support, supervision and training opportunities to enable your own continued professional and career development.

We also acknowledge that relocating your home and possibly family to take a new job can be stressful, so please discuss with us the support we can provide in helping to find local accommodation and relocation expenses.

Beechwood Specialist Dementia Treatment Unit is a 20 bedded unit, with 10 male and 10 female beds, providing high quality care for people with a healthcare need related to dementia.

Located with the heart of East Sussex countryside on its doorstep, Uckfield offers a very central base from which to explore East Sussex and its many places of interest such as National Trust venues, glorious walks across the South Downs National Park or along stunning coastlines such as Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters country park. The historic towns of Lewes and Glyndebourne are no more than 20 minutes away, whilst Brighton, Eastbourne and Royal Tunbridge Wells can be reached in 40 minutes.

If you are caring, compassionate and a good communicator with the courage, creativity and commitment to work within our services and to really make a difference to the lives of our patients and local communities then please apply now!

Please complete the application form and a member of the team will be in touch soon after.

We appreciate every application that we receive but regret that we are unable to advise every candidate if they have not been shortlisted. If you have not heard from us within three weeks of the closing date then it is probably the case that you have not been shortlisted, however this should not discourage you from applying again.

In the event of an excessive number of applicants the Trust does reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than indicated.

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust takes its responsibilities for the safeguarding and protection of children and young people and vulnerable adults very seriously and expects this of all its employees and bank workers. The Trust works with adult and children’s social care to ensure that the integrated service has systems in place to equip staff and bank workers with the knowledge and skills to recognize abuse, and take action to safeguard and protect vulnerable adults and children and young people.

It is expected that all staff and bank workers familiarise themselves with the appropriate structures and policies and with the Sussex child protection and safeguarding procedures and the Sussex multi-agency policy and procedures for safeguarding vulnerable adults and undertake the relevant essential training and further training appropriate to their role.

Successful candidates are normally offered salaries at the bottom of the relevant salary range. However, where previous or equivalent NHS experience in a similar role can be demonstrated and evidenced, this may be taken into consideration when setting the starting salary.
