We are looking for an enthusiastic band 5 to join our orthopaedic department.

John Ray ward require a hardworking, flexible band 5 to work all shift patterns including internal rotational, have an interest and/or passion for elective orthopaedic and trauma nursing to join our friendly team.

The successful candidate will be working on a 24 bedded elective ‘ring fenced’ orthopaedic ward. The main surgery carried out includes total hip, knee, shoulder and elbow replacements as well as spinal surgery and a wide range of shoulder, foot and hand surgery. The ward also has 4 day stay beds and 5 day stay trolleys, carrying out a wide range of orthopaedic day case surgery. John Ray also nurses trauma patients who have been transferred form the trauma ward for further nursing care and complex discharging.

John Ray utilises the skills of the nursing staff, together with members from the multidisciplinary team to ensure all patients receive high quality harm free care in a safe environment.

By joining John Ray ward you will be welcomed and supported by our team. All new staff have a mentor the newly qualified nurses will partake in the Trust’s preceptorship programme. Different training courses are available and the ward management team are proactive is securing our team on them.

MEHT contracts are subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.

All Registered Nurse/Midwife/Theatre Practitioner or ODP you will be required to take a Drug Calculation Test. (please note 100% pass mark required)

All HCA/HCSW/MCA will be required to take a Literacy and Numeracy test (80% pass required) as part of the pre employment process.
