The Huntercombe Hospital - Norwich

The Huntercombe Hospital Norwich is transforming the way we care for children and young people.

The Hospital is a low secure facility providing in-patient CAMHS services for children and adolescents aged 12 – 18 with a range of mental health disorders and who are detained under the Mental Health Act.

The core aim of the service is to promote recovery and rehabilitation so that patients can enjoy a fuller quality of life and progress to less restrictive environments as soon as possible. There are a total of 35 beds across two units (Low secure services & Psychiatric intensive care Unit (PICU)

The service aims to provide early, safe and sustainable discharge ensuring young people spend the least possible time in secure care.

The Hospital site is located in Buxton, close to the historic City of Norwich and is located just off the A140 (heading from Norwich towards Cromer, turn right after the church at the crossroads onto Buxton Road – then take the second turning on the left to find the hospital).

As a Registered Nurse (RMN/RNLD) working in our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) your main duties will be:-

  • To identify care needs of patients, planning and implementing nursing interventions and evaluating outcomes of care given
  • To communicate information accurately on patient care to the patient, families, internal and external professionals, including Commissioners whilst maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the principles of Information Governance
  • To administer drugs and checking/ preparations in accordance with Company policy and procedures and NMC guidelines.
  • To report and record incident and accidents in accordance with policy and procedures
  • To assist in the induction, development and supervision of, new and junior staff members, as required.

  • Hold current NMC PIN registration and adhere to the NMC Codes of Conduct at all times
