A new state-of-the-art hospital has recently opened in Whitehaven, representing the single biggest investment in healthcare in West Cumbria for over 50 years. This is a really important milestone for our organisation which will allow us to further expand our range of local services as we continue to improve safety and quality. Led by our clinical teams, the layout of the new hospital has been designed to provide a really streamlined experience for patients with services joined up and readily accessible for our doctors and nurses to ensure the very best patient flow.

Our hospital features an integrated emergency floor which includes A&E, ambulatory care, an emergency assessment unit and out of hours service, all supported by local GPs and our health partners at Cumbria Health on Call. The hospital also has a surgical floor, bringing together seven operating theatres as well as innovative diagnostic services. The modern hospital is something for our staff and the local community to celebrate.

The Trust provides a comprehensive range of general acute hospital services; we are currently working with the Commissioners to help develop a comprehensive service for the whole of Cumbria, which will work cooperatively with other providers in the area.

These vacancies offer the opportunity to be part of a growing, vibrant team, providing effective health care to the people of north Cumbria and working to bring about dynamic change in the way patients requiring health care are managed in North Cumbria.

We are seeking to recruit two highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses within the Emergency Assessment Unit, to cover a period of maternity leave, for a fixed term period of up to 12 months. We have two posts of 30 hours and one post of 25 hours.

The posts will be on a rotational basis and secondment opportunities will be considered.

You will be required to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care, whilst operating as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. You will also contribute as requested by the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse to the smooth running of the unit.

Applications are invited from Registered Nurses with active registration who have experience of working in a caring environment. Applications will be considered from Student Nurses due to qualify in the current cohort.
