An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Wheelchair Services depot in Chandlers Ford for the role of Rehabilitation Engineer. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Wheelchair Service and ensure clients are provided with equipment that is appropriate to their function, prognosis and environment, whilst ensuring the equipment is of an appropriate quality and is provided within agreed delivery times, while representing value for money.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

  • To provide advice and guidance to health professionals regarding the feasibility and the safety of proposed modifications and adaptations to wheelchairs and associated items.
  • To contribute to the multi-disciplinary assessment of wheelchair users and to provide product advice to the Wheelchair Service.
  • To carry out on site adjustments and minor modifications to wheelchairs and associated items.
  • To produce engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions for proposed modification adaptation.
  • To be responsible for auditing the quality of the adaptations and modifications completed by the Field/Workshop Engineers.

The Successful candidate will process?

  • English & Maths GCSE Grade C or equivalent

  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (or, in the absence of this formal qualification)

  • Previous experience in a Wheelchair Technician or similar role

  • Knowledge and previous experience working with specialist software such as Dynamics, P&G, etc.

  • Confident in the use of computers with knowledge and experience of Microsoft office

  • Positive interpersonal skills a with an ability to communicate appropriately with colleagues, other professionals, carers and service user

  • Demonstrate strategies for involving service users and carers in clinical decisions, ensuring all feedback is acknowledged

  • Full UK Driving Licence
