Velindre Cancer Centre is a purpose built hospital, delivering technologically advanced cancer care to the people of South East Wales. We also provide South Wales’ cranial stereotactic service enabling treatment provision for benign cranial indications.
The Radiotherapy Department consists of 2 Siemens CT simulators, 7 Linear Accelerators, Xstrahl Orthovoltage and HDR Microselectron. The linac fleet consists of 3 Varian (1 Trilogy and 2 Truebeam STX’s with ExacTrac IGRT) and 4 Elekta (Synergy) accelerators.
We provide VMAT/IMRT to most of our radical patients, CBCT to all and are continually working to expand our SABR service. Our cranial SRT service utilises 025 MLC’s and ExacTrac IGRT. We provide a clinical service with specialist techniques such as VMAT, SABR, STRT/SRS for benign and malignant brain lesions. We also undertake RPM, IGRT, TBI, and paediatrics techniques amongst others.
VCC aspires to be a leader in the world of Radiotherapy Research and currently enjoys an excellent national reputation and the Radiotherapy Research Team will play a pivotal role in that aspiration. Applications are invited from highly motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic, innovative and forward thinking radiographers wanting to develop their own leadership skills whilst working in a rapidly changing environment. The role will include the development and management of your own trial portfolio and will involve participation in radiotherapy related research and development programs e.g. the SABR program, fiducial markers, ART.
