RETURN TO PRACTICE Children’s Nurse (RSCN/RN Child)

    You can do this with CHSW and also experience the rewards of working closely with children and families to help them make the most of short and precious lives.

    CHSW is looking for nurses who are enthusiastic about renewing their career and are genuinely inspired by wanting to care for children and to work closely alongside their family. Working at CHSW involves being part of a motivated and friendly team and offering holistic care, on a one to one basis, to children staying with us for respite, emergency or end of life care and supporting their family.

    Successful applicants who complete the Return to Practice course will have the opportunity of working as a Registered Children’s Nurse for CHSW, in a role that our staff say is ‘rewarding and really special; ‘an amazing experience’; and allows you to ‘really make a difference’.

    CHSW can offer one fully funded Return to Practice course at each of the following locations:

    Little Bridge House, Barnstaple, North Devon

    Little Harbour, St. Austell, Cornwall

    Charlton Farm, Wraxall, North Somerset

    The study programme is delivered by the University of Plymouth and the University of West of England (UWE) in conjunction with clinical placements delivered within CHSW as well as collaborating NHS organisations.

    Placements will be at one of CHSW hospices, where successful applicants will work in a supernumerary capacity and will be supported and supervised by a sign off mentor in order to meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements for re-registration.

    NB: You must be a de-registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council register, to apply for this post.

    CHSW will:

    • Fund the Return to Nursing course fee
    • Employ and pay you as a member of the Care Team Bank for the clinical hours required on placement, (at the hospice or at the hospital) for the duration of your course.
    • Pay a financial incentive of £1,000 for a Returnee whilst undertaking the course.
    • Offer additional employment on the Care Team Bank if required.

    On successful completion of the course you will be given a priority interview for a registered nursing post within the organisation.

    The course will be starting in January 2017.

    Interested applicants will need to apply through the CHSW jobs website. When completing the application form, please include your past experience and your current preference in respect of location and also details about why you would like to complete your Return to Nursing course with CHSW.

    The course duration may be up to a maximum of 12 months, but can be completed in a minimum of 5 months. During this time you will be expected to work a certain number of hours to achieve your registration, which will be confirmed at interview (please see information sheet for more details).

    You will also need to commit to attending 6-8 study days at Plymouth University or UWE.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship (formerly a Work Permit)
