We are looking for registered general nurses who are passionate about quality and improving the patient experience, to join our Multi-Disciplinary Healthcare Team. We welcome innovative thinkers who like to work within a challenging, changing and evolving environment.

This diverse role includes:

  • receiving men from police custody and courts, your interpersonal skills will be required to gather information to ensure that this patient group is safe at a time when they are most vulnerable
  • ongoing assessment, monitoring and care planning for patients with a wide variety of health problems is an integral element of this role. You will need excellent communication skills to keep your patients engaged, focused and involved in their day to day care.
  • receiving patients from other prison establishments and ensuring there is consistency to their health care delivery.
  • liaison with internal and external agencies to ensure your patients’ needs are met whilst in our care and on their discharge.

HMP Leicester provides 24 hour healthcare presence working across 7 days a week including nights, days and weekend working.
Previous experience of working in a Prison is not required as we will provide training and support.

Applying to work in a prison is a complex and lengthy process which can take longer to complete than in other jobs. This is due to the in-depth security and background checks required to work in this environment. If successful you will be subject to enhanced disclosure and barring service checks and prison service clearances. There will be an expectation that the successful candidates will meet mutually agreed timescales to produce the relevant documentation to allow checks to be completed.
