Midwives Band 5

Doncaster/Bassetlaw Maternity Service.

Band 5 £21909- £28462 pro rata [newly qualified midwives]

We are looking for Band 5 midwives to join our team. These posts are suitable for newly qualified midwives or those with a limited period of experience so far in their career. This is an excellent opportunity to take your career forward within our service and in return, develop and utilise your clinical skills.

You will be supported in a robust preceptorship programme that encompasses all aspects of maternity care including inpatient wards, labour ward, antenatal clinic and the community settings. This will set you on a path for achieving a band 6 position, usually within 18 months, on completion of required competency packages.

You will also be supported in your practice and professional development through clinical leadership, which includes the Care Group leadership and management teams, the Education team, and supervisory team.

The Trust has a strong client base and there has been considerable investment in facilities, equipment and staff education. Our Trust is a modern, first-wave Foundation Trust serving a population of over 420,000 people across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire with a birth rate of circa 5200 (3700 on the Doncaster site and 1500 on the Bassetlaw site). Midwifery led care is provided for women with low risk pregnancies and home birth is promoted.

The maternity unit is forward thinking and innovative and is currently reviewing how the vision within ‘Better Births’ can be locally implemented. The maternity service supports partners to stay overnight and enhanced recovery for Women undergoing an Elective Caesarean Section. To improve patient experience in discharge planning we are looking to deliver an examination of the new-born clinic on the postnatal ward and an in house frenulotomy service. We have full BFI accreditation status.

We offer an excellent NHS pension scheme and are perfectly positioned, with the major regional centres, Nottingham, Leeds and Sheffield on our doorstep and the Robin Hood International airport is in close proximity to the Trust including excellent Rail Links (one hour and forty minutes to London).
