Working 6 weekly rotational sections between Howard one ward and The Sussex cancer centre for one year and one year between Haematology unit and The Sussex Cancer centre (including Haem/onc day unit at Hurstwood Park)
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a band five nurse to become part of a rotational post within the oncology services in Brighton.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 nurse who strive for high standards of patient care to join our team of highly professional cancer nurses.
The day centre includes a nurse led Chemotherapy outpatient service, the regional Radiotherapy service as well as Consultant and Nurse led clinics.
Howard one ward is an inpatient oncology ward with 9 beds. It gives inpatient chemotherapy, manages side effects of chemotherapy and cancer and looks after palliative patients.
The haematology unit consists of an acute 10 bedded ward with a high ratio of level 2 patients i.e. neutropenic septic patients as well as post bone marrow transplant/immuno-compromised patients and a 6 chaired day case specialising in malignant and non-malignanant blood disorders, treatments include monoclonal antibodies, chemotherapy, blood products and venesection
The post requires that you have enthusiasm and are keen to learn all about haematology and oncology. You will show a passion for both areas and the opportunity to work across two departments therefore increasing your knowledge and experience and making you an expert in haematology and oncology care.
In return you will be supported to further enhance both your clinical and leadership skills and given opportunities for professional development within a progressive team, where your nursing skills will be highly valued by patients, their families and the multi-disciplinary team.
The post may also involve rotating to our sister unit at Hurstwood Park.
