Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for 30 young people aged 7 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of needs, from those who are broadly average in their ability to others, who have more severe learning difficulties.
We provide a total environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. This ensures that they are able to fulfil their potential socially, academically, physically and spiritually and enable them to rebuild their low self-esteem and self-belief.
We take pride in the environment we can offer. The school is located in a beautiful, quiet, rural location in Somerset in a Georgian manor house, which has a range of outbuildings and extensive grounds. Our ethos was created in the belief that a positive, supportive, achieving culture is essential for good pupil progress. We seek to maximise independence and individual potential so pupils gain the skills to live happy, meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Science teacher required to assist the class teacher of a small group of KS4 learners, as they prepare for their GCSE examinations in Summer 2017. The settled class of five motivated boys have made steady progress through the GCSE syllabus (AQA Core Science) under a previous teacher but due to that member of staff leaving, they require a specialist to support them with the Physics and Chemistry elements of the course. They need support with practical experiments in our school science laboratory and to be guided through the ISA.
Experience of supporting young people with SEN / autism need not be a barrier to appointment as the successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher, who know the individual needs of each young person well.
Hours to be negotiated in line with the availability of the successful applicant.
From education to hospitals, care homes and secure facilities, the Priory Group of Companies offers individually tailored, multidisciplinary treatment programmes for those with complex educational needs or requiring acute, long-term and respite mental healthcare.

This unique approach ensures that every individual has the opportunity to achieve the best possible outcomes and quality of life with the Priory Group.
As 85% of our services are publicly funded and delivered in partnership with commissioners, our teams work with commissioning bodies across the country to provide transparent pricing models and evidence-based care programmes.
