Brief Description of the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a screening practitioner to work within the expanding Bradford & Airedale Bowel Cancer Screening team. As part of this exciting opportunity, you will play an essential role in looking after patients undergoing Bowel Scope Screening (flexible sigmoidoscopy), and supporting their care through the screening pathway.

The role involves working both independently and supporting Specialist Screening Practitioners (SSPs) to deliver the national bowel scope screening programme. The successful candidate will undergo a comprehensive induction and training programme. One of the main duties will be to input data live to the National Bowel Cancer Screening Database during procedures in the endoscopy unit. You may be required to consent, discharge, and support patients undergoing a bowel scope procedure. You will be computer literate and have excellent communication skills to be able to act as the patient’s advocate.

The role will also involve health promotion and programme evaluation through audit.

We are looking for an NMC registered nurse who is motivated, flexible, and a team player to enhance the current workforce.

The Screening Centre currently works over 5 days between 8 am and 9 pm, across two sites, with the possibility in the future of weekend working. The successful post-holder will be based mainly on the Bradford Teaching Hospitals site but will be expected on occasion to cross cover on the Airedale site.
