Registered Nurse/ODP/Newly Qualified

We currently have vacancies due to a large expansion of services for Band 5 Scrub Practitioners and Trainee Scrub Practitioners across all specialties to come and join our team within our buoyant Theatre Unit here at Broomfield Hospital.

Within our 23 theatres at Broomfield and 2 theatres at Braintree, surgical specialties include ophthalmology, upper and lower GI, vascular, urology, gynaecology, breast, obstetrics, maxillary facial, ENT, trauma, orthopaedics, robotic surgery, head and neck surgery and Burns and Plastics for which we are a world renowned centre of excellence.

We are looking for enthusiastic Registered Nurses/ODPs with sound scrub clinical knowledge of scrub and a desire to develop in this role. The successful candidates will preferably have scrub clinical experience & ability to provide high quality patient care within the perioperative setting, however training can be offered to newly registered practitioners or those who are looking for a new career direction. Demonstration of team working, team values and exceptional patient care are important as this will be large part of your role (please see the attached JD for a full person spec).

In return we will aid in the development of your career to enable this we have a dedicated full time Training and Education Lead and we work closely with Anglia Ruskin University with courses such as Perioperative Advances in safe and Effective Patient Care and Mentorship Preparation, and the NHS Leadership Academy for leadership courses at different levels. The Trust runs many other In-House courses such as MIPS updates, Core Skills Training, Risk Management and Resuscitation courses all of which are available to develop your career and enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Mandatory training is supplied in department and on-line
  • Specialist in-department study days such as Ophthalmic Surgery, Burns and Plastics, Maxillary facial, and Robotic Surgery.

Shift patterns include day duty, night duty, twilight and on-calls depending on the specialty.

MEHT contracts are subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.

All Registered Nurse/Midwife/Theatre Practitioner or ODP you will be required to take a Drug Calculation Test. (please note 100% pass mark required)

All HCA/HCSW/MCA will be required to take a Literacy and Numeracy test (80% pass required) as part of the pre employment process.
