Secondary Care Doctor Clinical Member on Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group Governing Body, fixed term post (2 days per month remuneration in line with current salary)
Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is looking for an experienced secondary care clinician with vision and presence to join the Governing Body. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to be part of improving health services for the local population. The Governing Body has a core role to ensure the CCG commissions equitable, high quality, cost effective health services for its 200,000 population.
Clinical leadership is at the heart of the organisation and the Secondary Care Doctor will ensure that external medical perspectives and an understanding of the secondary care setting support to the CCG’s approach to commissioning.
The successful candidate will have a wide range of clinical expertise in a variety of settings and will ideally bring added value to the post. The post holder will require experience operating at a senior level in a policy and/or academic environment (for example in a university, college, Professional Body or the Department of Health).
The Secondary Care Doctor plays a key role on the Governing Body bringing detailed insights from secondary care into commissioning plans and decision making, including discussions about service re-design, clinical pathways and system reform.
To bring the required level of insight to the role the post holder will need to have extensive current or recent experience as a secondary care doctor and in a wider leadership capacity. You will have broad professional networks, and understanding of whole system working and a track record of making a positive impact.
