£30,002 - £47,647 SALARY p.a excl. LZ
Full Time Fixed Term 6 Months with possibility of extension

Join a team which is constantly trying to improve patient care- both clinical care and experience. We are recruiting to a senior clinical fellow post in the Emergency department. This is designed to give a candidate the opportunity to receive further training in the growth area of Emergency Medicine – Elderly Care. Start date Feb 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The posts will be split 50:50 between Emergency Medicine and acute Elderly care. The post holders will participate in the ED night and weekend rota. Post CCT doctors who want to act as locum EM Consultants should get in touch to discuss this option.

Elderly Care. You will have the opportunity to work on the front line of Elderly care medicine alongside dedicated Frailty Consultants. You will have the opportunity to learn and understand integration of primary and secondary care for this patient group. You will be encouraged to take the RCP Diploma in Elderly Care. You will help develop education in particular about Trauma in the Elderly as part of the portfolio of the Emergency Department

Emergency Medicine: You will participate in a middle grade rota working with eight ED trainees of ST4-6 to supervise 18 junior middle grades, 19 FY2s and ENPs. The Emergency Department is led by sixteen Adult and four Paediatric Emergency Consultants. The Department sees over 138,000 new patients per annum, has a 16-bed Clinical Decision Unit sharing space with a 6 bedded Frailty Unit.

The post will have an educational supervisor in Emergency Medicine and Elderly Medicine. Funding will be available to enable the postholder to attend relevant course(s).

Applicants must hold full registration with the GMC and ST4+ or senior clinical fellow experience in Emergency Medicine in the UK (or international equivalent in the UK recognized by the RCEM).
