QEHB provides direct clinical services to nearly 800,000 patients every year, serving a regional, national and international population. We are a regional centre for cancer, trauma, renal dialysis, burns and plastics and have the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe. The Trust has the largest kidney programme in the UK and is a major specialist centre for burns and plastic surgery.
We provide a series of highly specialist cardiac, liver, oncology and neurosurgery services to patients from across the UK.
We are world-renowned for our trauma care and have developed pioneering surgical techniques in the management of ballistic and blast injuries, including bespoke surgical solutions for previously unseen injuries. As a result of its clinical expertise in treating trauma patients and military casualties, QEHB has been designated both a Level 1 Trauma Centre and host of the UK’s only £20m National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Surgical Reconstruction and Microbiology Research Centre (SRMRC).

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Fellow in Trauma & Orthopaedics to work in the knee team, who is interested in the field of complex knee problems, trauma and post-trauma reconstruction of the knee.
This post is suitable for a senior post-CCT trainee who would like to improve their skills in the management various knee conditions. It is expected that the appointee will have experience in the field of general trauma and orthopaedics. Previous experience in the field is essential. Good communication skills are essential, as this post involves liaising with multidisciplinary teams.
The Fellow will play a crucial role in the knee team, having access to elective & trauma theatre sessions and outpatient clinics. This will involve complex acute knee trauma and elective conditions. Elective Surgery is based at the nearby Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
This job is suitable for a post-FRCS (Orth) or post-CCT trainee who is looking for experience in the field of knee surgery and is committed to a career in this field.
The Fellow will be responsible for the day to day administration of the team clinical inpatient load. This will involve pre-operative planning and post-operative care in conjunction with the consultant.
The Fellow may be expected to perform some of the weekend sessions with the knee team but will not participate in the general on call rota. He will also be expect to provide some on call cover during normal office hours to support the department but not at the expense of the clinical exposure from the fellowship.
