HMP Hewell is a split site prison separated by approximately half a mile. The larger part is category B, holding up to 1,104 remand, sentenced and vulnerable prisoners and has the potential to hold category A prisoners as well. The smaller part (The Grange) is a category D open site holding up to 204 prisoners. There is an 18 bedded inpatient unit and a dispensing pharmacy on site (both on the Cat B site).

Care UK have been managing the NHS Healthcare Services at HMP Hewell since the 1st April 2016.

To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Hewell, we’re looking for a Senior Prison Nurse to come and join our team.

About the role:

As the Senior Nurse you will work as part of the nursing team, utilising your clinical expertise, decision making and problem solving skills to provide skilled and evidence based nursing care for patients in the prison. You will work within your scope of practice, in accordance with Care UK and prison service policies and procedures in line with the NMC Code of professional conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives.
The Senior Nurse is responsible for the continuing management of patients and acute and long term medical conditions, including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, health promotion actively and care of vulnerable offenders.

About You:

To be considered for this role you will be a Level 1 RGN/RN (adult) and hold a current NMC registration and have evidence of continued professional development post registration. With recent experience within a primary care, A&E, hospital setting. Experience within a prison setting is advantageous.

Further job information:

This is a full-time position, working 375 hours per week. The salary is £35,000 - £41,000 per annum - dependent on experience.
