Unit Manager/Senior Nurse (RGN/RMN/RNLD)
£15.50 per hour
42 hours per week contract
Yarningdale is a 20 bed home which cares for individuals with complex mental health needs including Huntington’s disease and neurological disorders. The team there is welcoming and supportive and the home has a lovely feel to it when you walk through the door.
We are now looking for a Unit Manager/Senior Nurse who can take responsibility for clinical matters and general management on a daily basis.
You're a nurse - that's what you trained to do and what you've done since qualifying - so don't worry, you'll still be delivering hands-on nursing care, but you'll also be expected to carry out some supervisory tasks, so it's a good opportunity to combine your nursing and management skills.
About the job ……
On a day to day basis, you’ll be involved with:
•Providing hands-on nursing care
•Conducting pre-admission assessments, assessing client care requirements
•Providing safe and effective means for the ordering, handling, storage, administration, recording and disposal of drugs
•Ordering clinical supplies to budget, ensuring safe storage, stock rotation and usage
•Reviewing and documenting care plans on a regular basis
•Participating in an on-call system to support the nurse in charge
•Deputising for the Home Manager where necessary
We expect that you will be a first level nurse (RGN/RMN) with a current PIN. You should be up to date with current evidence based practice and have a working knowledge of CQC Standards and Regulations. You’ll probably have had some supervisory experience previously, combined with a couple of years nursing experience.
You’ll have great communication and leadership qualities to ensure that the unit runs effectively and efficiently, delivering a high standard of clinical care.
What do we offer…..?
Your first seven days will be spent in a classroom environment, where you’ll complete a comprehensive induction and training programme, designed to give you all the information that you’ll need before you start working in the home.
Our homes offer a rewarding and stimulating working environment, where you will enjoy a varied role.
Working for an Exemplar home means that you‘ll have genuine prospects for career development. We have a City & Guilds centre which offers a variety of QCF qualifications, as well as a tailor made management development programme, to help you to achieve your goal, whether you want to climb the career ladder to Deputy Manager or enhance your clinical skills, we can support you.

Exemplar started life as a training company, helping a care home operator get to grips with an ever-increasing regulatory burden. We helped co-ordinate nursing adaptation courses for overseas nurses too.
Having all this knowledge at our fingertips, we quickly moved into care home operation, taking over 5 elderly care homes in need of some tlc. We still have these homes and they form the bedrock on which the rest has been built.
