Yarningdale is a 20 bed home which cares for individuals with complex mental health needs including Huntington’s disease and neurological disorders. The team there is welcoming and supportive and the home has a lovely feel to it when you walk through the door.
We are now looking for a Unit Manager/Senior Nurse who can take responsibility for clinical matters and general management on a daily basis.
You're a nurse - that's what you trained to do and what you've done since qualifying - so don't worry, you'll still be delivering hands-on nursing care, but you'll also be expected to carry out some supervisory tasks, so it's a good opportunity to combine your nursing and management skills.
About the job ……
On a day to day basis, you’ll be involved with:
•Providing hands-on nursing care
•Conducting pre-admission assessments, assessing client care requirements
•Providing safe and effective means for the ordering, handling, storage, administration, recording and disposal of drugs
•Ordering clinical supplies to budget, ensuring safe storage, stock rotation and usage
•Reviewing and documenting care plans on a regular basis
•Participating in an on-call system to support the nurse in charge
•Deputising for the Home Manager where necessary
We expect that you will be a first level nurse (RGN/RMN) with a current PIN. You should be up to date with current evidence based practice and have a working knowledge of CQC Standards and Regulations. You’ll probably have had some supervisory experience previously, combined with a couple of years nursing experience.
You’ll have great communication and leadership qualities to ensure that the unit runs effectively and efficiently, delivering a high standard of clinical care.
