Job Description

We are looking for an experienced mental health occupational therapist to join our established Community mental health rehabilitation team. This is an ideal opportunity for an OT to develop his/her skills within community rehab. The team are based at Mead House in Hayes but the post holder is expected to work across the borough at various sites.

The post has two elements which are OT specific and generic working as a care coordinator.

The team works with service users who are in supported and residential placements. Working towards supporting people to more independent living settings. This may include assessing needs for aids and adaptations and supporting people to engage with community resources and the development of their occupational needs.

The post holder will provide an OT specific role within the team consisting of assessment and individual work and would work as part of the MDT team.
As care coordinator the post holder would carry a specific case load of service users on CPA.

The post holder would work alongside the other team members in the MDT and also supervise students. There will be an expectation of the post holder undertaking management responsibilities and training and that they would contribute to the development of the rehab service.

Partnership working within the borough a key part of this post, establishing close links with the community and partner agencies.

Applicants will have a BSc OT or Dip COT and be HCPC registered. Post graduate experience within an adult mental health setting is essential and community experience would be desirable. Applicants must have good organisational and communication skills and be able to work effectively within a team.

Please note that a car driver or use of other motorised transport e.g. moped or motorbike is an essential requirement for this role due to the geography of the borough.

CNWL has a Recovery College that can be accessed by staff. The OT service in CNWL has a robust R&D structure with opportunities for training. There is a close working relationship with Brunel University including joint research. Supervision, training and development are offered.
