Senior Paediatric Clinical Research Nurse

Job Description

Paediatric research at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital is growing and developing. The paediatric clinical research team is expanding in size, scope and clinical facilities. This is an exciting time to join our team and make your mark on paediatric research and help shape its future.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Band 6 or an established Band 7 as a Senior Paediatric Clinical Research Nurse to play a key role in delivering high quality GCP compliant research as well as ensuring the provision of nurse leadership and management to a team of children’s research nurses and our wider multidisciplinary team. You will be joining a team which includes clinical research nurses, a clinical research educator, a clinical trial pharmacist, a play specialist, a clinical psychologist, a research manager, a trial coordinator, data managers and administrators.

The successful candidate will act as a knowledgeable resource for the wider research team, including investigators and will support the development and implementation of strategies to increase clinical trial activity across the paediatric research portfolio. As a skilled communicator, the successful candidate, must also possess excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills and be able to act as an ambassador for promoting research utilisation and best practice.

The team supports over 40 studies across a diverse range of specialties; from phase one to phase four clinical trials, medical device evaluations, dietetic interventions and cohort studies and will have the opportunity to act in a lead nurse capacity with your own study portfolio. The team also offers its skills and expertise on a regular basis to the set up and conduct of over 90 additional studies embedded within the wards and clinical services of Evelina London. These include The Centre for the Developing Brain, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), cardiology and theatres. These roles present the chance to work closely with the clinical teams while expanding your skills across a variety of studies and disciplines.

To support the expanding team and growing portfolio of studies we are moving into newly refurbished designated paediatric facilities embedded within the multidisciplinary adult Clinical Research Facility (CRF) in St. Thomas’ Hospital, the paediatric allergy CRF (Snowy Owl) located within Evelina London and new modern office space. Each team member will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of these spaces and to work with our colleagues, patients, families and the public in the future development of research at Evelina London.

Evelina London is the first children’s hospital to be rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The paediatric clinical research team works hard to continue this level of excellence and all teams members will have the opportunity to contribute to this work.
