Senior Registered Nurse - Outpatients

Job Description

BMI Winterbourne Hospital in Dorset is part of BMI Healthcare, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Registered Nurse to join their team of staff in the Outpatient department.

This is a FULL time role for 375 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Registered general nurse
  • Post Registration Experience
  • ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Excellent clinical applied knowledge which is evidence based and takes account of national best practice standards
  • Excellent Verbal, written and I.T communication skills
  • Diplomatic and skilled in dealing with consultants, customers and colleagues
  • Experience of the private sector desirable
  • Awareness of NMC code of conduct and accountability

Duties of this role include:

  • To provide strong clinical and managerial leadership to the outpatient department and pre-admission teams.
  • Act as a role model for the outpatient team to encourage achievement of the highest clinical quality standards;
  • To ensure that standards of patient care are consistently maintained at all times in accordance with agreed operational policies and procedures as the senior member of the nursing team;
  • To promote and safeguard the well-being and interests of all patients, employees and visitors;
  • To assist the Executive Director and Director of Nursing in the delivery of the Hospital’s strategic objectives for the department and nursing service generally.
  • Always operate within the standards of the Nursing & Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct
  • Work closely with the Outpatient Lead Nurse to develop systems and processes that support the growth of Business.
  • Foster a culture of collaborative working across departmental boundaries
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are complied with by colleagues within agreed BMI frameworks
