Senior Residential Support Worker
Job Description

I am recruiting for one of Safehands Recruitments prestigious clients based in Leicestershire. This is a permanent vacancy for a senior residential support worker whereby the successful candidate will be employed directly by the organisation.

You will undertake the senior residential worker role to work in one of the homes as part of an integrated service, working closely with education and therapy services alongside local authorities. You will act as a professional person working closely with other agencies and professionals.

You will be responsible to the manager for the day to day running of the home, managing a shift and delivering high quality care to the young people.

You will help to train and develop staff ensuring the home is compliant and promote and safeguard the welfare of young people.

Responsibilities of Senior Residential Support Worker:

• You will be directly supporting the registered manager with the daily running of the residential home

• Conducting staff supervisions and observations of practice to ensure staff are delivering care in line with the company standards

• Supervising and leading staff on shift to ensure all duties are completed to the highest of standards

• To supervise staff to encourage the residents personal development through formal and informal sessions

• Managing day to day rotas to ensure shifts are adequately staffed and operating efficiently taking into account young persons needs

• To ensure care plans, risk assessments and person centred plans are continually updated and within regulations

• To communicate any changes within policy, care plans or organisation to the whole team effectively and report significant events through the appropriate channels to senior management

• To ensure and promote optimum health and well being of the young people at all time

• To administer medication and maintain all associated duties including completing medication records, re- ordering and conducting audits

• To liaise with internal and external health care professionals and family members

• Encouraging the young people to be an active member of the community

Person Specification for Senior Residential Support Worker

Previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour

• The ability to work a shift rota system that includes working some weekends and bank holidays and sleep ins

• Must of held a full driving licence for three years

• Must hold NVQ Level 3 Children and Young persons workforce or equvilent

• Excellent communication skills

• Effective organisational capability

• Great team player

• Flexibility to respond to the changing needs of those being supported
