Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available to work in the South coast’s largest Critical Care Unit. This comprises of General ICU, Neurological ICU, Cardiac ICU and Surgical High Dependency; who are proud of their national status and reputation within Critical Care.

The post is for a Band 7 Senior Sister in the General Intensive Care who ideally will have 2 years experience at band 6 or equivilant in an Acute Adult Critical Care Unit. The unit is twenty five bedded delivering care to level two and level three adult patients.

UHS is a Major trauma, regional neurological and cardiac centre, which are dependent on the advanced skills of those professionals within Critical care to support their work. We are looking to expand the senior team due to increased demand on our services with future developments in expanding the unit, developing vascular work and ongoing haemofiltration support for specialist surgical patients. The unit works closely with patients and relatives to develop active early mobilisation programmes and support patients post ICU through follow up clinics.

There are supportive educational and leadership development programmes for all staff. If you have an interest in research your contribution to our active research team is welcome. The unit offers the opportunity to actively participate in Critical Care issues at Trust, National and at an International level. With a varied and complex case mix, a commitment to developing our roles in a visionary manner makes this an excellent opportunity to gain a rewarding career within the Critical Care Unit.
