Respiratory Support & Sleep Centre

The Respiratory Support & Sleep Centre is a 35 bedded ward specialising in the care and management of patients with sleep and respiratory disorders. The ward incorporates 5 high dependency beds for patients requiring weaning from invasive ventilation and a 6 bedded sleep laboratory. We are one of the largest units in the UK providing non invasive ventilation for patients with lung disease and neuromuscular disorders, we support over 1500 patients on long term home ventilation and 12000 patients on CPAP.

Our focus is patients, their comfort and care. This is at the forefront of our thinking and we are constantly working to develop the service we offer to the people we treat.

We are looking for a highly motivated and forward thinking senior staff nurse who can provide clinical leadership and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care, to act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner

You will need to be flexible, adaptable and committed to making a positive difference and have the excellent communication and clinical skills of a true team player

You will be expected to undertake delegated responsibility for the unit so this is an ideal opportunity to develop leadership and ward management skills.

We welcome applicants from individuals who can demonstrate post registration experience within the field of respiratory nursing. You will need to have completed the mentorship preparation module and have experience with the management of patients requiring invasive and non invasive ventilation; experience with home NIV therapy would also be advantageous.

Development opportunities at Papworth Hospital are first class, with a supportive orientation programme following trust induction. There are specialist in-house study days and courses, including leadership courses, as well as close links to Anglia Ruskin University for post registration courses.
