BMI Healthcare’s Hendon Hospital in London has a vacancy for a Senior Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff within the Theatres Department.

This post is for 375 hours per week

It is essential that applicants have the following:

  • RGN
  • Preferred Theatre Course, e.g. ENB 176 though not essential
  • Preferred ENB 998
  • Up-to-date working skills and knowledge of operating theatre practices
  • Knowledge of NMC Code of Professional Conduct and implications
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance Tools
  • Preferred knowledge of Endoscopy and Recovery practices
  • Considerable experience within a Scrub environment essential to include orthopaedics.
  • Preferred working knowledge of private sector desired.

Duties of this role include:

  • To accept delegated responsibilities from the Theatre Manager/ Deputy Theatre Manager as required.
  • To ensure effective utilisation and revenue/cost capturing of material resources.
  • To assist with budget preparation for the department.
  • To take part in the interviewing and selection of junior staff, and be actively involved in their orientation and development.
  • To deliver at all times high standards of nursing care and to act as a point of reference for junior staff.
  • To maintain professional credibility and attend relevant courses to assist in enabling the effectiveness of the role.
  • To ensure all measures for patient safety including Team Brief, WHO checklist and Timeout are carried out according to national guidelines best practice and BMI Policy.
  • To act at all times in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
