Job Description



Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, a large University of Manchester Teaching Trust is highly regarded by patients, other NHS Trusts and independent organisations.

You will to work alongside a dedicated inter-disciplinary team (4 other Clinical Psychologists, 4 Physiotherapists, 6 Medical Consultants, and 6 Specialist Nurses). The clinical pathway is designed to facilitate a customised and comprehensive approach to pain management, with the opportunity to design inter-disciplinary therapeutic plans for individuals, leading to group pain management programmes of differing intensity. A cognitive-behavioural orientation is central to the philosophy of all team members.

The ability to work closely with other professions and the application of CBT is an essential requirement. The centre is keen to promote applied research, teaching and training. Time and money is allocated for the active pursuit of CPD.

In 2009, The MSPC celebrated 50 years of pain management in Salford and opened a new purpose-built, stand-alone centre complete with its own clinical, library and seminar rooms. Salford is currently seeing huge investment in housing, leisure and commercial developments. It is situated within 10 minutes from Manchester city centre, and within easy reach of the Lake District, the Peak District and the Welsh national parks.

In the event that we do not appoint at Band 8a we would consider appointing a newly qualified Clinical Psychologist at Band 7 with a view to development.
