The Woodbourne Priory Hospital is a 57-bed acute psychiatric hospital for adults and adolescents, based in Edgbaston Birmingham, offering a wide range of care to our varied client base of inpatient, outpatient and day patients.

The Woodbourne Priory Hospital offers calming and recovery focused residential treatment for 57 service users, including separate facilities for up to 23 young people.

Specialising in the management and treatment of mental health problems , the hospital has established an excellent reputation for providing the highest standards of care.

We have a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, family therapists, dieticians, social workers and occupational therapists, who deliver personalised treatment programmes and a range of therapies.

The Woodbourne Priory hospital:

  • Is accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Quality Network for Inpatient CAMHS (QNIC)
  • Is suitable for young people aged 11 – 18
  • Has 17 private bedrooms on the acute ward, which young people are encouraged to decorate and personalise and 6 private bedrooms on the adolescent high dependency unit.
  • Offers specialist individualised therapy programmes
  • Has education delivered by skilled teaching staff, with onsite assessment facilities

We are now seeking to recruit a part-time speciality doctor to work alongside the existing full-time speciality doctor and two consultants. There is no on call component to the post.

To join us, you must hold an MBBS qualification or equivalent and will be required to maintain full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). Ideally candidates will have experience of working in inpatient settings of people with significant mental health difficulties. The post holder will work closely with our Consultant Psychiatrists and our large multi-disciplinary team and be committed to providing quality patient focussed care, comprehensive risk assessment and mental state examinations and competent physical health examinations and management. The post requires a good team player who must be keen to participate in a multidisciplinary approach to assessment, formulation and management plans.
