Pembrokeshire offers many beautiful settings including the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, ideal for those interested in outdoor pursuits, horse-riding, coasteering, kayaking, or just a relaxing coastal walk. There are also a wide range of things to do for the family including Oakwood theme park and the Bluestone national park resort. Haverfordwest is the central market town and is approximately 7 miles from the westerly coast. The old castle overlooks the river Cleddau which runs down to the huge estuary, Milford Haven. This is used for commercial shipping and ferries to Ireland, but also offers great scope for water sports with many slipways and clubs catering for sailing, motorboats, waterskiing and diving. The estuaries and off-shore islands such as Ramsey Island, Skokholm and Skomer are havens for wildlife and popular with bird-watchers.
