We have posts available as part of an exciting major development within the department to create separate on call rotas for each of the critical care and obstetric services. The post holders will also assist in the coverage of its overall workload, across all areas of the hospital where the anaesthetic team works, including elective, emergency, trauma and out of hours work.
The post-holders will work alongside the existing team of 22 Consultants, 3 Associate Specialists and 6 other Specialty Doctors as well as 14 rotating staff from the North Trent School of Anaesthesia. The on call rota works on an EWTD compliant 1:7 frequency and the clinical work programme covers a range of specialties and areas of anaesthetic practice; a varied weekly work pattern will encompass the on call commitment but there will be opportunity to provide development sessions. The post attracts a 10 PA job plan.
The department serves a modern theatre and day surgery complex with adjacent ITU and HDU facilities. The department has an excellent reputation and enthusiasm for Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching. There is an active clinical effectiveness audit and teaching programme. Successful candidates will be encouraged in their professional development and provision will be made for them to be able to attend teaching where possible and have educational supervision.
Any applicant who is unable to work full-time may be eligible for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on an individual basis with the Chief Executive, Medical Director and Clinical Director.
The job plan may be modified in discussion with the Clinical Lead and consultant colleagues.
Other posts may become available before the date of interview, and this may include some temporary or locum posts at Specialty Doctor level.
