We are seeking substantive and fixed-term Specialty Doctors, who together with 59 Consultant Anaesthetists, 2 Associate Specialists, 15 existing Speciality Doctors and 28 Trainees will provide a comprehensive anaesthetic service to a population of approximately 570,000 across Southern Derbyshire.
The positions will comprise of between 10 programmed activities on average per week and there are 2 additional PAs available with this post. These posts offers variety of interests including, theatre work, obstetric anaesthesia, intensive care and resident on call duties. A willingness to work flexibly is essential. The Specialty Doctors are co-ordinated by a dedicated Consultant and the Trust has also appointed a Tutor to specifically support the educational and developmental needs of the Specialty Doctor group in all specialties.
The final phase of a £333 million PFI project in Derby opened in May 2009, bringing all local acute services onto a state of the art single site facility at the Royal Derby Hospital complex. The new hospital has a total bed compliment of 1,150, with 35 operating theatres, a 16 bed ICU and a 24 bed step-down facility for post operative care. It also has a new maternity suite and Children’s hospital with some non acute services still remaining at the London Road Community Hospital (formerly the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary). The Trust has also seen the opening of a graduate entry Medical School - a satellite of the University of Nottingham, which has greatly enhanced the teaching and research opportunities for medical staff.
Applicants must hold full GMC Registration with a licence to practise, be able to demonstrate a wide range of experience in all aspects of anaesthesia and have worked in the specialty for a minimum of two years.
