Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor in Community Paediatrics at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post will be based at Wharton Primary Healthcare Centre and/or Leighton Hospital.

The Community Paediatric Department forms part of the Women’s and Children’s Division of Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The department provides a service to children from birth up to school leaving age, and employs a team of Community Paediatricians and Specialist Nurses, supported by administrative and clinical support staff. The department is based at Leighton Hospital in Crewe and at Wharton Primary Healthcare Centre in Winsford .We will have a vacancy for this post from February 2017.

Children are referred to the Department because of concerns regarding their behaviour and/or development. The role involves the assessment of children, both of school age and pre school children. The post holder will be involved in seeing children referred for neurodevelopmental conditions like Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder and Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Diagnostic assessments will be carried out by the doctors trained to carry out these assessments. We also provide a comprehensive service in Adoption and Fostering, Neurodisability, Special Educational Needs and Child Protection

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual who, whilst happy to work within a team, is capable of managing their own caseload. They will have a sympathetic approach and enjoy working with children and their families and will be committed to providing the best service possible for those children for whom they have responsibility. The role involves considerable liaison with children and families, other agencies and other Health Professionals, and therefore excellent communication skills are vital.
