Our vacancy

In Wiltshire, Virgin Care is commissioned by NHS Wiltshire CCG, Wiltshire County Council and NHS England to provide a wide range of children’s community health services. The service looks after over 105,000 children and young people across the county. Wiltshire Children’s Services is a newly formed service, which aims to provide a comprehensive and cohesive service to the children of Wiltshire

Base Location: NHS House, Bath (possibility of move to new base later this year, negotiating a different base in Wiltshire could be considered)

Hours: 10 PA (Part time will be considered)

Team summary

Led by the Director of Community Paediatrics you will work alongside a dedicated team of four consultants including an Associate Specialist and two Specialty Doctors, who provide an invaluable service to our patients.

Role summary

This new post has been developed following the recommissioning of Wiltshire Children’s Community Services and provides the post holder with an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the service and shape service pathways in the area.

The Community Paediatric Service will provide a supportive and encouraging environment in which to develop as a professional with opportunities to develop in specialist fields.

The clinical work will involve providing specialist assessment, diagnosis and ongoing care to children and young people and families in Wiltshire.


The qualities we are looking for in our applicants are:

  • Relevant experience in clinical management of children
  • Ability to share aspects of developmental paediatrics with the existing team (Four consultants, an Associate Specialist and two Specialty Doctors)

We would support colleagues in developing a subspecialty interest; particularly individuals who would wish to develop an interest in diagnosing and managing autism spectrum conditions or safeguarding. If the successful applicant has other strengths within community paediatrics, the job plan could be adapted to fit these strengths and to the needs of the whole department
