An exciting opportunity has arisen for a substantive Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry within the acute care crisis pathway for 10 PA's although flexible hours are considered.
Camden & Islington Foundation Trust are seeking to appoint a bright and enthusiastic clinician to this Substantive Specialty Doctor position, based within the Islington crisis and home treatment service in Islington, North London.
The post may also be flexibly offered as a 6-12 month fixed term contract for applicants who prefer this. There may also be the possibility of negotiating protected time within the job-plan for a quality improvement or research project (This might suit applicants who have temporarily stepped out of Deanery approved training and are trying to extend their experience and build their CV before returning to higher training).
The post offered is that of Specialty Doctor Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry based at Highgate Mental Health Centre, Dartmouth Park Hill London N19 5NX.
The full time post (10 PA's) will be broken down as follows: 85 Direct Clinical Care and 15 Supporting Professional Activities. All clinical sessions are within the crisis care pathway.
The position is available from 31 October 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The role of the Specialty Doctor is to be a senior medical member of the multi-disciplinary team. Supported by the team's consultant, the Specialty Doctor ensures that high quality, patient-centred, effective, safe and efficient care is delivered by the team.
The post is subject to the annual job-planning process as agreed under the new Specialty Doctors contract. Inner London weighting supplement applies. The post holder will be supported in pursuing appropriate continuing professional development.
The trust became a Foundation Trust in February 2008 and continues as a mental health organisation. It has well established links with the Royal Free and University College London medical schools and the North London Junior and Higher Psychiatric Training schemes. The Trust works closely with researchers at UCL and these two organisations have recently formed the so-called Institute of Mental Health. There are opportunities to take part in research projects for interested applicants.
Camden and Islington are exciting multicultural inner-city boroughs just on the edge of the west end of London. There is a contiguous mix of relatively affluent and deprived areas.
Applicants are expected to have a full GMC registration and relevant experience in Psychiatry. It is desirable that the successful applicants are members of the RCPsych or equivalent, hold a current licence to practice and are approved under Sec12 of the Mental Health Act.
