Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine

Salary:£37,547- £70,018 per annum post will involve on call element
This is a substantive post.
We are looking for a Specialty Doctor with vision and drive to join our motivated and skilled multi-professional team in providing specialist inpatient, community (including domiciliary, outpatient and day care) and hospital support to patients with advanced, life limiting illnesses in South Wales.
The post offers excellent opportunities to gain experience in all aspects of palliative medicine. The post is based at Y Bwthyn Newydd, situated in the grounds of the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend.
The post-holder will participate in a 1 in 6 non-residential medical rota providing cover for inpatients in Y Bwthyn Newydd and in its sister unit, Tŷ Olwen, Morriston Hospital, Swansea, as well as an advisory service to other health care professionals across community and hospital settings in ABM University Health Board. The on-call is also supported by a Consultant and weekend working by Clinical Nurse Specialists in palliative care work who work with the on call medical staff to offer direct assessment and advice.
The department is committed to supporting the advancement of palliative care. We work closely with both Cardiff and Swansea Universities, along with other university and college partners in South Wales. There are excellent education centres at the major hospitals with a full programme of activities.
Located in South Wales, the area offers a mixture of dramatic coastlines, areas of outstanding natural beauty, commerce and industry activity. The area is well served by an hourly rail-link to London, the M4 motorway.
