Applications are invited for the post of LAS Registrar in Cardiology. The post commences on 3 August 2016 until 1 August 2017.

All Applicants will be required to have MRCP (UK) full diploma or equivalent by commencement of appointment.

The Registrar will have a principle responsibility of supporting the Cardiology team. Additionally the postholder will take part in the general medical acute take and out of hour’s rota. Responsibilities will also include two outpatient clinics, the supervision of junior staff on the ward round and seeing cardiac referrals. They will be expected to participate in the regular teaching programme as well as in weekly meetings and monthly audit meetings.

The registrar will have the opportunity to train in angiography, pacing and echocardiography. Angiography at Colchester is largely radial access based. A full complement of echo services are provided including stress echo and 3D TOE. Training in these modalities can be arranged depending on the needs of the postholder. Myocardial perfusion scanning and state-of-the-art 360 slice cardiac CT is also available.

Single and dual chamber pacing and cardiac loop implantation are routinely performed. Regular transthoracic sessions are available for echo training. Outpatient clinics are run alongside a Consultant clinic with close guidance and supervision. The postholder will be expected to contribute to the morbidity and mortality reviews and audits both at Colchester and at the Essex CTC training days.
