Staff Nurse - Acute Medical Unit

Job Description

AMU is an Acute 24 bedded medical ward working within the Emergency Care element of Pilgrim Hospital. It is a unit that aims to admit, treat and discharge patients in a timely and organised manner. This role will require the individual to work closely with colleagues in Accident and Emergency and Ambulatory Emergency Care.

This staff nurse position is available to a qualified nurse. Experience in emergency care is preferable. However we have an active educational training programme to support the development of newly qualified nurses or nurses seeking to change into a different specialty.

The role includes rapid assessment and interventional treatment for acutely unwell individuals. We also support the assessment and discharge of patients in conjunction with our community and multi-disciplinary team members working at the front door of the hospital.

We are looking for an individual who can use their initiative, has an interest in emergency care and works well within a multi-disciplinary team. AMU can be at times a challenging environment therefore, it is essential that the individual applying for this post can remain calm under pressure, has excellent communication skills and can prioritise their workload.
