Job Description

Our vacancy

Our service is based at Walton Hospital in Surrey, where we serve the local area. We aim to deliver first class care to patients on our two physical Rehabilitation wards.

Our patients come via our two local acute hospitals and from the local community.

Each ward has 19 beds.

Working at our Community Hospitals is very different from working in the acute hospital environment; we are a small, very friendly team of nurses, therapists, Doctors and ancillary staff, working closely together to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.
Our staff tell us they love the family feel working here and it shows in the way that staff support each other.

The team has a great professional support network which includes regular interaction and team meetings that allows us to grow, learn and develop together

As a Staff Nurse you will deal with a variety of patients and conditions and contribute to the overall performance of the team by being a proactive, enthusiastic team member. The role will also involve:

  • Caring for patients, families, each other
  • Actively listening, understanding and responding to patients
  • Delivering, monitoring and maintaining our high standards of care
  • Contributing to complex discharge planning
  • Being an active and participating member of the team sharing best practice whenever possible
  • A commitment to ongoing improvement and development of the service


Ideally you will have experience in rehabilitation and you will have the commitment to providing a service that respects and acknowledges the cultural diversity and rights of older people

The essential qualities we are looking for in our Staff Nurse Applicants are:

  • 1st Level Registration as an RGN
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and also as part of the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstration of ongoing professional development and a commitment to providing high quality, safe and effective care that meets the needs of patients
  • Ability to relate to patients and colleagues in a sensitive manner
  • A flexible approach to work with the ability to work across a team rota. We work a 365 day rota with a combination of early of and late shifts. It includes a minimum of alternate weekend working. Shift times are -07:15 – 15:15 and 13:00 – 21:00
  • Keen to develop new skills and undertake clinical training.
