We are looking for a dynamic staff nurses to join the Daisy Ward Team. Nurses who are enthusiastic, innovative and want to work in a service that is committed to providing individualised evidenced based care. As well as experienced nurses we would also welcome applications from newly qualified nurses. The hospital supports newly qualified nurse through the preceptorship programme which is led by the Clinical Practice Educators supported by the Nurse Consultant for inpatient services and the inpatient Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Daisy Ward is one of four acute wards in Prospect Park Hospital. Prospect Park hospital is the main mental health hospital in Berkshire. Daisy ward is a 23 bedded mixed gender ward, with two of the beds allocated to support patients who are on a detox regime. The team consists of a Consultant, Speciality doctor, dedicated OT and OT assistant, Psychologist and Psychology assistant with support from a team of Qualified Nurses and nursing assistants.

Daisy Ward has a close knit team which supports each other. The team takes full advantage of the space group and all members of the team are encouraged to attend the weekly meetings.

As well as 4 acute wards the hospital also has two older adult wards, one functional and one is an organic ward. There is also a PICU unit for patients who need specialist care.

The hospital has links with Reading University and the Charlie Waller Institute and nurses are encouraged to take advantage of the courses offered by the Institute. The Charlie Waller Institute trains clinicians in evidence-based psychological treatments in particular those recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust also has close links with the University of West London and the Berkshire Institute for Health at Fountain House in Reading.

Reading is a vibrant town that offers good transport links to all areas of the country, especially London. The site offers free parking for staff. The Trust also has a childcare voucher system in place to support nurses with young families.

As well as the NHS pay scale the position also attracts enhancements for night duties, weekends and bank holidays.
