We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated qualified Nurses who have an interest in Elderly or Stroke Care.
The Elderly Care Department provides general / acute medical care to elderly and stroke patients that are admitted to South Tyneside Hospital.Comprehensive geriatric assessment and care is provided by a strong multi-disciplinary Team of four Consultants supported by teams of dedicated and experienced Nurses and Therapists with input from Social Care.
During a patient’s stay, there is great emphasis on prompt diagnosis and multi-disciplinary rehabilitation.Maintaining dignity and individual privacy is extremely important and experienced Therapy staff work closely with the Nursing staff to achieve this.
The Elderly Care Department comprises of the two acute elderly care Wards, a rehabilitation/end of life Ward and a combined Stroke Acute and Rehabilitation Unit and includes specialist inpatient and outpatient care for stoke, falls, confusion, dementia and delirium, orthogeriatric and general medical care for the complex elderly.
We are seeking individuals who are able to promote and maintain high standards of care and record keeping, demonstrate excellent communication skills and be willing to rotate into all areas across the Elderly Care Department.You must also show a commitment to personal/staff development,
Elderly experience is preferable but is not essential as training, development and mentorship opportunities will be available for experienced or newly qualified Nurses.
