As a Registered General Nurse, you'll work as part of a team of Primary Care Nurses within HMP Grendon & Springhill.
HMP Grendon is a Cat B prison with secure conditions - with each of its six wings operating as autonomous therapeutic communities.
HMP Springhill is a Cat D open prison with a resettlement regime.

It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
We’ll utilise the wellbeing model to put patient care and safety at the heart of everything we do through assessing prisoners across 5 domains of; physical and mental wellbeing, substance misuse, relationships and resettlement. The patient and clinician complete a wellbeing wheel assessment to set goals and outcomes in partnership. The patient will complete the assessment and any needs identified will be met by our fully integrated service delivery team.
It’s not just the environment that’s varied here, the role is too. You can expect to be involved in everything from clinical triage to the evaluation and development of patient care and standards. You’ll carry out – and potentially develop – nurse-led clinics, reviewing patient histories, undertaking relevant examinations and tests, organising any necessary treatment and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when you need to.
Across everything you do, you’ll maintain accurate records and provide the kind of helpful, empathetic support that will make every patient feel at ease.
To be successful in this Staff Nurse role, you must:
• Be able to demonstrate knowledge of principles and philosophy of Clinical Governance.
• Be able to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety.
• Be able to demonstrate the ability to respond to situations and act on your own initiative.
• Have good interpersonal skills.
• Be able to provide evidence of good record keeping.
• Have experience of performing clinical audits.
You will be a qualified RGN with current and valid NMC registration. You'll also have evidence of continuing professional development and be willing to undertake further training and development relevant to your area of practice and service development.
This is a full-time role of 375hrs per week. Working Monday – Sunday on a rolling rota, including alternate weekends. This role does not include nights or long days. Shift times are: 07:45 – 17:00 and 13:00 – 19:00.
The salary range for this role will be £24,000 - £29,000 per annum - dependent on experience.
